Welcome to Mimosa
As we think thru the reconstruction of Mimosa in Herne Hill we have been doing our research in London and further afield on trends and changes in not only buying habits but also customers expectations in a neighbourhood delicatessen.
As with most things this sounds easy in principle but in reality there are so many variations that we ended up confusing ourselves!
So how are we moving forward? We have gone back to the principles that founded Mimosa; namely, really tasty food, well presented and friendly knowledgeable staff as the basis for rebuilding the shop.
At the same time we want to provide some more opportunities for you to pick up items, feel them, taste them and of course ask our staff questions. So the layout will be more open, enabling you to not only order a custom-made sandwich but also pick up daily prepared salads or snacks from our open display counter. Too Tired to Cook with also feature prominently.

Dear Mimosa Customers,
Update Blog No.2
So the dryers are in and the kitchen designer is on his way, with the shop refit getting well underway we’ve been turning our attention to more important matters: the new menu!
Although old favourites will obviously be making a come back (we know you’ll be pining for the quiches, the lasagne, the soft syrupy flapjack…) there’s likely to be lots more variety, our spinach and feta spirals will be joined by spicy pork, salmon, and chorizo spirals too! And as we prepare to reopen in the autumn, we’re delving into seasonal specials too; October will be the month of the mushroom, so look out for lots of yummy mushroom related treats.
While the builders and designers are at work we’ve been keeping ourselves busy with outside catering and are even putting together a catering new menu. Davide has been working on a mouthwatering new canapés: duck rillette with apple chutney and queen scallops with streaky bacon and pacchino tomatoes are just the start.
It won’t belong before we’re back on our feet, but for those of you just can’t wait, watch this space. Next week we’ll be featuring one of Davide’s newest creations for you to try at home!
Mimosa update Blog No.1
With more than a week passed since last Wednesday’s deluge, the clean-up operation is well underway. At a rather muddy and be-wellied meeting on Monday, the mood among Mimosa staff was still characteristically cheerful. Jaws dropped as photos taken on the day of the devastation were circulated around the group, and as I poked my head into the basement, where flood water had lapped against the ceiling just days before, I was shocked by how much of the wreckage had already been cleared.
Undeniably the damage to the shop has been great, but as one member of staff pointed out, ‘we needed a new floor anyway!’, and this is very much the attitude with which we’re going ahead. For us this period will be a chance to rejuvenate the Hernehill business, to build and improve upon what came before, and open in a few weeks time with renewed gusto!
And in case your stomach’s already rumbling, it should be noted that Mimosa’s shop in Vauxhall, and all outside catering services, continue as normal
